What is family focus, why does it exist?
Family focus initially was a team of professionals who assisted children with learning difficulties. The key was to create an integrated approach to learning challenges. I had seen over the years how my therapy had helped children. But the more I worked with children the more I realized that the problems they were facing were dynamic. Many parents had come to me as the last resort and told me about all the different modalities they had tried. What struck me is that they did them one at a time, never together.
I had been going to lectures given by Dr Ford and suddenly I understood why these children were really battling. I saw the big picture for once and then knew why the teachers, children and parents were having such a torrid time. The environmental pollution such as, the heavy metal load that all of us carry, had to be a major contributing factor.
We decided as a group of professionals to go out and lecture to parents and teachers about what we had discovered, and that if you combine the right modalities you could more easily help children to learn and communicate, without the need for drugs. Now, in New Zealand a few of us give talks together, sharing this information that we have. We would all be happy to address parents and teachers in other forums. .
In New Zealand I now work together with a number of professionals in the Auckland area. Together we address the problems that most children present to us.
