The Tomatis Method - Filtered Sound Therapy

This is a brief overview of the Tomatis Sound Therapy Method

Most people have heard of the ‘Mozart effect’ but few know that it is available here in Auckland.
Professor A.Tomatis was a French E.N.T. surgeon, who discovered that the music of Mozart has a profound impact on the brain.
We use the music of Mozart filtered to treat children and adults. We see many children with learning difficulties such as APD, ADD, ADHD, Low Self- Esteem, Low Muscle Tone, emotional difficulties, Poor Language or Communication Skills, Dyslexia Asperges syndrome and Autism. Each child receives an individual programme specially designed around his/her needs

We are also able to run language programmes, programmes for pregnant moms and voice improving programmes for singers.

There are 160 centres worldwide, of which the Auckland centre is one. We have had great results with children who were destined for drugs such as Ritalin and the like, and after completing the programmes no longer showed the need for the drug.

Over the years we have been interviewed for publication in newspapers, magazines, aswell as for radio and television.
The sound therapy is an excellent way to assist the brain to rewire areas that are not functioning at optimum. An international link is www.tomatis.com. This is a Canadian site, for a Toronto based centre. Their site is so brilliant I decided not to reinvent the wheel, but we do the same work.

Pregnancy and Sound therapy.

We believe prevention is better than cure. There are many studies to suggest that if a pregnant mom takes fish oils while pregnant her child will be cleverer. Well the sound therapy has a similar affect. The baby’s ear is fully developed by 16 weeks and hence the baby's brain development relies largely on stimulation from sound. Especially, the sound of the mother’s voice, this plays a vital role in baby’s development. All the sounds in Utero are low frequency sounds, the mothers breathing, her heartbeat and digestion all make up the sound environment that the baby is exposed to. The ear is the first sense to be fully developed in Utero. To read more....

Procedure

The first consultation is three hours.  We begin with a Listening test, a brain dominance profile, a Tree test and then we take a detailed case history. From all this information we design a programme that would best help the situation.

The investment for this consultation is NZ$300.00. The assessment takes up to 2 and 1/2 hours.

The programmes span from 15 to 20 days depending on what is needed.

Our aim is to address the problem not to band-aid the symptom.

The Tomatis method assists with delayed maturation in any form.
