The Sound Therapy method of learning a language
The Sound Therapy for language learning is based on Tomatis method. It may enhance the speed at which one can learn a new language. Learn the English language, faster and more effectively.
According to Prof. Tomatis we learn language in Utero. Each language has a range of frequencies. It is very much like being tuned to a particular radio station. We are tuned into our mother tongue.
If we want to acquire a particular language it helps us to be able to hear that language. The Sound Therapy places those frequencies of the new language in our ears, so that we may be able to hear the language and thereby be able to speak it so much faster. This does not detract from actually learning the language, i.e. the grammar and spelling but it assists in acquiring the language frequency.
Ever wondered why the French behaved with such opposition to the English folk? It has to do with them not being able to hear the English language.
French is a much lower frequency language compared to English, therefore the French cannot hear it. It makes them really grumpy, at not being able to hear that frequency.
I remember a number of years ago, I was studying in Israel. I had not learnt Hebrew before going over to study. I found it a most difficult language to acquire. In my second year there, I was still struggling when I decided to do the Hebrew language course using the Tomatis method. There was a distinct difference after the course. I could really hear the language. It felt as if it was washing over me and it did not frustrate me as much. From then on, I was able to really learn the language.
The language programme may be completed in the comfort of your own home.
I currently have Japanese students who are completing a course and they are both finding it helpful. The one student tells me that her understanding in the classroom has gone up dramatically. She was already proficient at reading and writing, it is the spoken language where she was struggling. She is doing much better.
